According to a new rumor from LRM Online, Star Wars famous creator and animator Dave Filoni has been tapped to oversee the development of Star Wars‘ shows exclusively for Disney+. Filoni was heavily involved in the development of the critically-acclaimed first season of The Mandalorian, working arm-in-arm with one of pop culture’s best-known directors Jon Favreau.
With his background stemming primarily from animation, Filoni opened up about the differences between live-action and animation during Disney Gallery: Making The Mandalorian. He also spoke about his vision and his direction for the franchise. Most notably, Filoni talked about his godly interpretation of Duel of the Fates, which seemed to be met with a round of worship from Star Wars fans online.
If the rumor is true, it is safe to say that the galaxy far, far away on Disney+ would be in great hands that will do everything in their power to make the best content available. With Filoni potentially in charge of the Star Wars/Disney+ expansion, he will see his first original Star Wars character brought to life through live-action with Asohka Tano making her appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2. And with rumors of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger set to make their live-action appearances soon in unannounced Disney+ shows, Filoni will have a great handle on many of the characters entering into the live-action Disney+ realm.
