Since 1999, fans of the galaxy far, far away have flocked to Star Wars Celebration wherever it was held to share their love for the massive blockbuster franchise. Celebration, well, celebrates the rich history of a universe filled with Jedi, Sith, and a plethora of scoundrels with first-looks, new project announcements, and so much more. But the event produced by Lucasfilm will be skipped in 2024, to return somewhere in 2025.
Confirmed – Star Wars Celebration Skipping 2024
While not the first time Star Wars Celebration has skipped a year, it is certainly heartbreaking for fans that wished to return to the major event. Celebration has previously skipped 11 other years in its 24-year run, making 2024 the 12th year skipped.
Star Wars Celebration 2023, referred to as Celebration Europe IV, will be held in London, United Kingdom. Of the previous 3, Celebrations I and II were also held in London, while Celebration III was held in Essen, Germany in 2013.
Celebration Anaheim II, held in 2022, promoted the Obi-Wan Kenobi series along with the production company’s other Disney+ series like The Mandalorian. With new shows like Ashoka and The Acolyte on the way in the future, fans can expect new information about tons new projects both publicly known or otherwise!
Fans not attending shouldn’t get their hopes too high to see everything the Star Wars Celebration gets right away, though. Last year, the first trailer for The Mandalorian dropped at Star Wars Celebration, but fans not in attendance weren’t treated to it for a few weeks longer.
Rumor – Star Wars Celebration 2025 Could Be Outside U.S.
But 2024 being skipped can be more of a big deal for US-based fans. We at The Cinema Spot have been hearing rumors that the 2025 Star Wars Celebration is eyeing locations outside of the Unted States, meaning the US-based fans could go at least 3 years without a Celebration they could readily attend.
If the rumors we’re hearing are true, this would be the first time that Star Wars Celebration would skip a year and not make its return to the United States.
