Andor Season 2

Star Wars Celebration kicked off with some talk of Andor. Series creator Tony Gilroy took to the stage to provide some updates on Season 2. Production is currently halfway done filming and will be completed by the end of this summer. Andor Season 2 is expected to debut on Disney+ sometime in 2024.

The Acolyte

Next up, the cast and crew of the upcoming series The Acolyte joined the stage to talk about the show. The Acolyte is set during the High Republic Era of Star Wars, a time when the Republic and Jedi were at their most powerful. Joonas Suotamo, who portrays Chewbacca in the Star Wars sequels, will be playing a Wookie Jedi. Lee Jung-Jae is confirmed to star as a Jedi Master.

Attendees also got to see an exclusive first look at the show. The footage features a Sith character in a ninja-like outfit fighting a Jedi, played by Carrie-Anne Moss. It also features shots of several different Jedi, including one of them igniting their lightsabers together.

The Acolyte will premiere on Disney+ next year.

The Mandalorian Season 3

Next Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Rick Famuiywa discussed The Mandalorian Season 3. Rick Famuiywa is directing the final two episodes of the season. A brief clip of the upcoming episode was shown to attendees. The clip features the return of Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon.

Furthermore, Famuiywa stated the final two episodes of Season 3 will bring “resolution” to the first three seasons of The Mandalorian as well as The Book of Boba Fett.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

The slate of directors for Skeleton Crew was announced. It includes Jon Watts, David Lowery, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, Lee Isaac Chung, and as recently reported, The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert). Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith join the cast in unknown roles. Jude Law will star as Jedi.

Additionally, some footage was shown. The footage features four kids on the run across the galaxy from various aliens before running into a Jedi.

Secondly, Dave Filoni will direct a movie that will wrap up the events of the “Mando-verse” era of live-action Star Wars television programs. Those shows include The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and The Book of Boba Fett.

Finally, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will helm a film about building a new Jedi Order after The Rise of Skywalker. Daisy Ridley returns as Rey.
