Uli Latukefu has been cast in DC’s Black Adam in an unknown role, according to Deadline. The actor, most recently known for his portrayal of a young Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in NBC’s Young Rock hit series, had is breakout role in Netflix’s Marco Polo series, portraying Byamba.

Latukefu, who was specifically chosen by Johnson himself for his Young Rock role, is set to star in Next Goal Wins from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, and has recently finished up production on Sophia Banks’ Black Site. In the upcoming action-thriller, Latukefu will star opposite the likes of Jai Courtney, Michelle Monaghan, and Jason Clarke. He also starred in the 2017 franchise continuation Alien: Covenant.

Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular character, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman/Carter Hall, and others to round out the cast. The anti-hero flick will also feature two versions of the Justice Society, and will reportedly take place in the past as well as the present. Johnson was cast in the role over 6 years ago, and is now finally seeing his project taking off.

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Sohrab Noshirvani, and Rory Haines. The film will hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
