The beloved bounty hunter is back! According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, actor Temuera Morrison will return to the Star Wars universe. Unlike his last appearance in 2002, Morrison will not play Jango Fett, but rather as feared bounty hunter Boba Fett during the second season of Disney+’s The Mandalorian.
Previously, writer-director James Mangold was developing a solo film for Boba Fett, but production was halted for reasons not entirely clear. The last time audiences had seen a fully-grown Boba Fett, the bounty hunter met his demise after falling into a Sarlacc pit in the opening act of 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
The son of Jango Fett, 2002’s Attack of the Clones revealed that Boba Fett was a clone of his father, aging at an average rate, unlike his fellow clones. After watching the death of his father at the hands of Jedi Master Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) Boba reappeared in the animated series The Clone Wars for a handful of episodes, following the child as he attempts to exact his revenge against the Jedi Master.
The Hollywood Reporter believes that Fett’s appearance will only be brief, after being teased at the end of the season one episode The Gunslinger.
