The upcoming Marvel Studios and Disney+ series Moon Knight adds May Calamawy to its cast. The series is set to star Oscar Isaac as the titular hero. Calamawy (Hulu’s Ramy) is said to have been cast in a key role, per The Hollywood Reporter. The role that Calamawy has claimed is still unknown.
Production on Moon Knight is expected to start in March 2021 in the United Kingdom. Directors Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead are set to direct the six-episode series. The Umbrella Academy series creator Jeremy Slater will serve as the showrunner of the highly-anticipated series.
Moon Knight is the alter ego of Marc Spector, a former mercenary suffering from dissociative identity disorder. Spector was granted superhuman powers by the Egyptian God of Vengance, Khonshu. Exact details regarding the plot of the show are still unknown.
Back in October 2020 news broke that Oscar Isaac (The Force Awakens), was cast as the street-level Marvel Comics hero. The character Isaac plays was introduced in “Werewolf by Night #32”, another character expected to appear in the Disney+ series. Learn more about Moon Knight’s origins in our Character Spotlight!
