Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Oscar Isaac has been cast as Moon Knight for Marvel’s Disney+ series! Coming off a terrific run from the Star Wars franchise, and poised to hit the big screen again next October for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation, Isaac is basking in the spotlight. Since the announcement for the Marvel Studios Moon Knight series, rumors and fancasts swirled around the internet, most recently this morning with the rumor of Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) and Nick Kroll (The League) eyed to star in the comic book adaptation.

Disney+ Moon Knight Series Casts Oscar Isaac

Moon Knight, known also as Marc Spector, is a Jewish, street-level hero bestowed with the power of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Prior to gaining his powers, Spector was a CIA agent, boxer, and mercenary, making his first official appearance in the Marvel Universe within the pages of Werewolf By Night #32, written by Doug Meonch and drawn by Don Perlin.

Isaac is no stranger to large intellectual properties nor the characters of the Marvel Universe. Having starred in franchises such as Star Wars as Poe Dameron, and X-Men: Apocalypse as the first mutant Apocalypse, Oscar Isaac has seen his fair share of fandoms and adaptations. Now, headlining his own series, the veteran actor can continue to display his acting prowess and dive deep into the complex character Moon Knight with the character’s dissociative identity disorder.

The series was most recently expected to begin production in just a few short weeks on November 16, 2020, and will last roughly 26 weeks. With the casting announcement so close to the expected start of production, we should expect to see some set photos not too long after shooting begins!
