We have finally arrived at the end of the season as Project New America is finally enacted on half of the population of North America. Other than that there is not much to summarize so let’s get right into the final two episodes of the season.

Project New America is Enacted(Episode 12)

There isn’t too much I had to say regarding episode 12 which is why I didn’t end up doing a full review last week. I loved the fights between Courtney Vs Tigress and Sportsmaster Vs Pat and Mike. It was such a shame we didn’t get to see more of Crusher and Pat together because I really loved that bromance. Mike finding out about the JSA felt very heartfelt and well earned as we have been waiting forever for him to finally learn the family secret. I hope Mike does more as a part of the team next season! Seeing Rick happy that he cracked his dad’s notebook was so great to see too as he has always been a bit of a downer this season was great to see a change for him.

I loved how this episode showcased that no character at least on the side of the JSA was wasted having screen time. It was sweet watching how everyone was a part of the plan to stop the ISA, but sorry Mike looks like you are going to have to wait to have a bigger role in taking the villains down. My one problem with this episode was the killing off of Anaya/The Fiddler. That moment didn’t really feel that earned, but I am excited to see more of Issac as they basically set him up to become the next Fiddler. Overall this episode was a great setup for the following episode where things started to get really good.

All aspects of the final fight between the JSA and ISA I thought was great to watch. At times it was kind of hard to track what was happening in the fight because of there being so many characters. However, other than that I loved finally seeing the majority of the ISA finally fight the JSA. I was shocked when Yolanda killed Brainwave, but I would have rightfully been even more pissed off at him after trying to trick her by showing her his son. I’m so happy for Rick that he actually spared Grundy due to Grundy always being portrayed as both a hero and villain in the comics. Beth also felt very useful not being in the fight and sticking with what she is great at with hacking. I actually cheered for Cindy getting revenge on her father Dragon King by killing him because that moment felt so earned from the previous episodes.

I was a little disappointed with how Icicle’s story came to a conclusion with Mike just ramming him and scattering his body. That fight with him and Courtney fighting on the rooftop was really fun to watch and I kept expecting something bigger at the end? While I was hoping for the whole JSA to end up subduing him I do understand why he was just killed off instead of being taken prisoner. Hopefully in season 2 they do find a way to bring him back because it would feel like a missed opportunity to not have more of this amazing villain(same goes for Brainwave).

What’s Next for Season 2?:

So many things happened in the final moments of the season and I loved every little bit of it. It was so sweet seeing Courtney really accept Pat as her father as we saw how that journey happened throughout the season. In addition, having that whole Christmas sequence really honed in how this team has become their own family.  I felt bad for Justin that in the end he wasn’t the one to enact revenge on Dragon King, however I am hoping to see more of him in season 2 as he searches for his stead as well as the Seven Soldiers of Victory.  We got great teases for the season’s next two villains with Shade and Eclipso so I’m very curious to see how the show handles those two.

Not surprisingly(at least for me), a JSA member was revealed to be alive and I was definitely not expecting it to be Sylvester. There’s so much more to delve into what we can expect from season 2 and I will be doing so more in the next few days with a new article so stay tuned for that.

Final Thoughts

This season has been a roller-coaster of emotions that I’m so sad has suddenly come to an end. There are a couple of missed opportunities from these final two episodes that I was upset by(such as the lack of Cameron Mahkent), but overall though these two episodes were a solid conclusion to the season. I am very excited to see what is next for this season on the CW and hope the next season can live up to this one. Be sure to check out my full season review and what to expect for season 2 in the next few days!

Score:9.8/10
