Kelly Marie Tran, star of 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has been cast in Hulu’s upcoming anthology project Monsterland. The series, based on the stories of author Nathan Ballingrud, will also star Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Taylor Schilling (Orange Is The New Black), and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart).
The series takes place in a universe filled with mythical creatures such as mermaids, fallen angels, and other wondrous creatures, and will follow “broken people driven to desperate acts” as they work to fix their own lives. Kelly Marie Tran will star in an episode titled “Iron River, MI” as Lauren, who returns to her small town roots for her wedding.
Created for television by Mary Laws, Annapurna Television will produce the series, with executive producers Lucan Toh, Sue Naegle, Babak Anvari, and Megan Ellison. There is yet to be a release date assigned to the series.
