Disney Studios is developing a live-action adaption of The Snow Queen, according to TheDisInsider. While this may resemble the story of Pixar’s Frozen and Frozen II, it is reported to follow in the footsteps of Disney’s upcoming Rapunzel adaption, where the film will adapt the classic story and not their animated counterparts.

This is not the first time that the Snow Queen has been adapted in live action. ABC’s Once Upon A Time, the hit fairy-tale series that ran from 2011 to 2018, brought the Snow Queen to life, as played by Elizabeth Mitchell.

The original tale, written by Hans Christian Anderson in 1844, “centres on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend, Kai,” (Google Books).

There are currently no details on the story.

Cruella and Christopher Robin producer Kristin Burr is signed on to produce the flick.
