Some faces of the past return to our vampires. The Season 2 premiere’s second episode is titled “Ghosts;” it is directed by Kyle Newacheck (Workaholics, Community, “The Worst Guys”), and written by Paul Simms (Atlanta).

Some spoilers ahead for those who have not yet watched the episode or seen the show. If you haven’t done either, you should get to that now, then return to this article!

Continuing from last season, vampire Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) is visited by her former lover Gregor — now Jeff (Jake McDorman), and the vampires learn they can conjure ghosts of themselves from their past lives when they were still human. Things go awry when they discover that their ghosts have come for unrealized business.

This episode is just as ridiculous as the previous episode of the season, with Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Berry) disbelieving in ghosts but understanding that vampires, werewolves, and other creatures exist. It makes sense for immortal beings like vampires to be against holy entities such as God, but it’s such a laugh when they bring science into the discussion.

The most hilarious parts of this episode deal with ectoplasm and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch)’s attempts at an “updog” joke. You’ll understand the context when you’ve seen it.
