Quentin Tarantino’s final film is getting closer to being a reality. As detailed by The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino is preparing to direct his last feature film this fall. The film is currently titled The Movie Critic and is written by Tarantino. It is expected to focus on a female lead set in the 1970s.

Furthermore, it is possible that the film is about Pauline Kael, a famed critic, essayist, and journalist, who was active in the 1970s. However, it is unclear if this is the film’s focus at this time. The other big unknown is what company will distribute and release the film. Previously, Sony distributed Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Tarantino’s movie from 2019.

Background on Tarantino

Tarantino has been writing and directing since the early 90s and always stated that his 10th film would be his final film. He wants to stop at ten in order to preserve his filmography and status saying, “I want to stop at a certain point. Directors don’t get better as they get older. Usually the worst films in their filmography are those last four at the end. I don’t want that bad, out-of-touch comedy in my filmography…”.

While Tarantino has technically already directed 10 movies, he considers Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 to be a single movie. He has also expressed interest in directing plays or a television series so this wouldn’t necessarily mark the end of his career in Hollywood or in general.

Do you think this will actually be Tarantino’s final film? What are you expecting from this next movie? Let us know in the comments.
