I am an English and Film major, cinephile, and aspiring writer! When I'm not buried in school work and lectures, I'm usually in the depths of streaming services and their plethora of film options. Or reading.

This episode was written by Jess Meyer, and directed by Silver Tree.

Despite Shane (Griffin Matthews) fuming bitter sass at Cassie (Kaley Cuoco) for outing him as a CIA agent to his boyfriend whilst drunk, he’s still willing to let water flow under the bridge. Like the rest of us semi-omniscient viewers, he doesn’t believe Cassie is actually connected with the string of murders she’s potentially being framed for. Shane dug around and found out that all of the mysterious murders had one thing in common: they were all connected with Will, the mark killed back in Season 2, Episode 1 in Berlin.

Shane and Cassie decide to pay a visit to the boat Max (Deniz Akdeniz) was able to track down from the View-Master photo and discover an untouched crime scene with bodies laid under sheets. Cassie recognizes one of the bodies as her handler Ben’s errand boy and starts to freak out that she somehow has something to do with it. Shane professionally handles the situation by urging it as a police matter and assuring Cassie that “This can’t be about you right now.”

Cue Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” blasting in her mind locus, where the other Cassies complain about the Real Cassie’s habit of making everything about her. You’d think it’d humble her a little bit, but when Cassie is pulled back to reality, she starts to panic about how those people could be dead because of her. The usual signs before she downs an alcoholic beverage.

As the police investigate the matter, Cassie is paid a random visit by a fellow AA member, Jenny (Jessie Ennis), whose appearances are starting to raise some suspicion…

Back home, Cassie yet again exploits Shane’s CIA status to Annie (Zosia Mamet) and Max, this time promising that they will be the last people she ever tells about it. Uh-huh, sure, Cassie. Ever-so patient Shane puts it behind him before revealing what he figured out about the View-Master. He was able to piece together the fact that each image in the View-Master correlates with the location people were killed. And that the last picture in the slide could possibly be the place where Cassie gets murdered. This sparks flashing warning signs in the group’s collective headspace, and so they decide (mostly Cassie decides) that they must scope out the location.

Keeping up with Megan

Megan (Rosie Perez) is standing in a parking garage, creepily watching over her son at a bus stop, when she’s approached by one of the North Korean men after her, urging her to turn in any remaining flash drives in her possession. The man terrifies her with facts he knows about her son Eli (David Iacono), proving that he can be a very dangerous man if Megan doesn’t comply with his demands.

Though Megan is already used to the terror after fleeing from bounty hunters for a year. With her flightiness and soft motherly personality, she surprises us by tricking the man and distracting him long enough to knock him out and stuff his body into the trunk of her car. While out in daylight and in the middle of an open parking garage, might I add.

When Megan calls Cassie for help, she mentions that she knows all about Shane’s affiliation with the CIA and that he had been after her for a while now. She begs Cassie to broker a meeting with them so that she could trade information with Shane and maybe save her own life and family, but she’s stopped by a police car pulling up behind her.

It seems to be nothing at first, just an officer pulling her over for being parked in the breakdown lane. It’s not until there’s a thump from Megan’s trunk that the officer decides to have her step out of the car for questioning. Megan charms her way with the officer by relating to her with typical mother things, like See’s Candies fundraisers and missing her family. She even so much as breaks down about how much she misses Eli and convinces the officer to let her go because she has a “plane to catch” in order to mend her broken relationship with him

It’s a smart move and, honestly, with how Megan has been handling things so far, I was fully expecting her to knock out the officer and stick her in the back of her trunk as well.

Paradise at the Pier

The last slide in the View-Master brings them to the Santa Monica Pier. As usual, Max had figured that fact out and also predicts Cassie’s murder to happen that very night because the pier will be closed to the public for a whole month by the next day.

Shane agrees to escort Cassie to the pier to try and get several steps ahead of whoever is out for Cassie. Once there, Shane instructs Cassie to stay put on a bench and not move, but of course in true Cassie fashion, she does the exact opposite once Shane is out of view. Especially after seeing a blonde woman walking in the distance wearing the exact same outfit as her, her curiosity fuels her to chase danger.

In the midst of her chase, Cassie receives a phone call from CIA agent Dot (Cheryl Hines), who tells Cassie that she’s now running point on a new task force dedicated to investigating the string of murders. When Cassie mentions that she’s at the Santa Monica Pier, Dot stresses for Cassie to not engage with Ben (Mo McRae) if she sees him, because apparently, he’s a suspect to the CIA. Much to Cassie’s never-ending streak of bad luck, Ben is exactly who she runs into as soon as she ends the phone call.

She flees through the thick crowds with Ben hot on her tail and manages to sneak her way onto an empty Ferris wheel car, which explains its animation in the show theme credits.

From the top of the Ferris wheel, Cassie catches sight of Ben waiting at the bottom and is approached by Shane. From the top, Cassie has no idea what’s going on between them, but all she can see is what looks like Ben taking down Shane and trying to strangle him in broad daylight in the middle of a crowd.

Team Annie and Max

Through the show’s famous stylistic side-by-side montage of the pier, we also find out that the Diazes (Joseph Julian Soria and Callie Hernandez) are there as well.

Annie and Max—on their own adventure without either Cassie or Shane knowing—find the Diazes chasing after them throughout the pier. Annie and Max manage to hide in an arcade booth where Annie gets an idea of how they can take them down. It involves Max making a distracting run for it, long enough for the Diazes to catch up to him and corner him under the pier. Annie heroically pops up from behind and tases both of them.

In a satisfying sigh of relief moment, Annie pulls her missing engagement ring off of Gabrielle’s hand, rendering Annie and Max now officially engaged.

Double Trouble

After her solo round on the Ferris wheel, Cassie finally runs into the doppelganger she’s been after, only to find out that it was Grace (Mae Martin) all along. Her first suspect in the season!

Grace flashes a hidden gun in her coat and tells Cassie to follow her. Instead, Cassie hops back onto an empty Ferris wheel car, agonizingly slow enough for Grace to hop on right after. Now stuck together, they begin their ascent.

Grace admits to stabbing Ben down at the pier, which explains what Cassie saw earlier. We also find out that Grace is just the hitman and not the mastermind of the situation. She doesn’t even know anything about a View-Master, just that she’s been hired to kill Cassie.

In a weird turn of events, it becomes a rant session with Grace freaking out about how messed up her life has become. She goes on about her reason for leaving the army–which was because she didn’t want to kill–only to find work that has her doing that exact thing.

Cassie tries to get Grace to tell her exactly who is out there trying to get her killed. But before Grace opens up… well, I’ll just leave that part out for you to find out yourself. I’ll just say it’s bloody crazy.

Final Thoughts on The Flight Attendant Season 2, Episode 7

This episode was a lot shorter than usual but packed so much at the end that it practically burst in our faces.

A lot has been revealed, and a lot of questions have been answered. Grace has always been suspicious from the beginning, even with the writers’ attempts with her innocent and charitable personality. It was just difficult to figure out exactly where her place was in the show and how it related to Cassie’s criminal life, and now we know.

Jessie Ennis as Jenny in The Flight Attendant Season 2, Episode 7

At this point, I’m mostly starting to suspect Jenny. The points are pretty obvious, or I could just be looking too much into it. With her weird obsession with the true-crime scene and wanting to start a podcast with Davey about it, and her “random” run-ins with Cassie in the oddest places, it doesn’t place her in an exactly innocent light. Even in this episode, when she showed up at the boat crime scene, it’s almost laughable to shy away from that possibility.
