The Hawkeye season finale is finally here, and we get some of the answers that we’ve been waiting for! Episode 6 stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Alaqua Cox, Fra Fee, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton and Florence Pugh.
The Big Guy
The moment we have all been waiting for in Hawkeye happens… quite early on in the episode to be honest. We knew it was going to happen, we’d been waiting, and it was everything we wanted. Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) is as chilling and intimidating as we all know and love, and seeing him here really starts to round up all of the storylines we have in the show.
While I think that the introduction of Kingpin was perfectly executed, and his character is very much welcomed and fitting in this show and storyline, I do feel like we have the typical Marvel rush happening here. The character’s appearance was expected, however, it does all feel a little bit too convenient and quick. All the storylines planned have been so easily tied up, but I would have liked to see them do something a little different.
On one hand, it would be nice to see Marvel branching out and taking risks. On the other, the finale does bring in all of the storylines very nicely, and they do end in a satisfying – albeit safe – way. I don’t feel like I’ve been robbed of a solution, but I do wish they would have taken more risks.
We’re Partners
The final episode of Hawkeye really brings in the big guns when it comes to emotions. It’s beautiful and there are so many moments that will make you tear up. They’re not forced or too much- they feel exactly right. The confrontation between Yelena (Pugh) and Clint Barton (Renner) is perfect. It’s filled with action but shows the raw emotion that these characters feel after the death of a loved one. I personally felt more emotional about Black Widow’s death in this show than I did in Endgame. This again shows the range and talent of the actors, and really makes the audience feel the pain and loss of the characters.
The show isn’t without its comedic moments though, and they are – as always- perfectly balanced with the action and poignant moments. This series feels like they have found the perfect balance between all three; no one part takes over the other, and everything seems to blend perfectly. There are some beautifully funny moments between Kate (Steinfeld) and Yelena that feel so natural that I honestly wondered if they were scripted at all.

This final episode is brought to you by my undying love for these characters, and my joy at how they have been portrayed on screen. The cast has perfectly captured the humour and turmoil of the characters, all while carrying the action and story. Hawkeye is one of the better series that Marvel has produced in a long time, and it has ended in such a way that it feels like we could see more of the character, but a second series doesn’t feel forced.
Overall, it’s a great series, something that is full of fun and joy but also has a lot of emotion and action to keep you on the edge of your seat. If you want to watch only one Marvel series from this year, I feel like Hawkeye is perfect for everyone, and is the best show to watch.
