After the return of the Boba Fett in the sophomore season of The Mandalorian, the famed Star Wars bounty hunter will return in December of 2021. The character’s next outing will be at the helm of his own Disney+ series titled The Book of Boba Fett. Though not one of the handfuls of Star Wars shows announced at Disney’s Investor Day 2020, the new series was announced in a unique way- at the end of the season finale of The Mandalorian.

Accompanied by a teaser of sorts, Lucasfilm is reportedly already hard at work on the series, with director Robert Rodriguez attached to develop the project. Rodriguez follows the powerhouse director James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari, Logan) as the director of the project. Mangold’s version of the project however was intended to be a film.

The Book of Boba Fett joins a litany of new Star Wars Disney+ projects, such as The AcolyteAhsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and many, many more! Little is known of the series, though it is safe to assume that we will see a return to the desert planet of Tatooine, and quite possibly the continued partnership of Fett and Fennec Shand. Boba Fett

First appearing in the 1980 sequel Empire Strikes Back as a a bounty hunter working for Darth Vader, Boba Fett quickly became one of the most beloved and mysterious characters in the Star Wars universe. Within the first 15 minutes of Return of the Jedi, however, Fett found himself swallowed up by a Sarlacc on Tatooine after Jedi Master Luke Skywalker began his escape from the grasps of Jabba the Hutt. Since, Fett had appeared only in Legends stories after that moment.

In the Prequel series, Fett appeared as a child, and it was revealed he was a clone of his father, Jango Fett, who was killed by the Jedi Master Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) in 2002’s Attack of the Clones. Boba then appeared here and there throughout the animated The Clone Wars series, seeking revenge on Windu before falling in with some other bounty hunters and assassins.
