Jonathan Majors has been landing great roles. Earlier today, the actor is set to join Paul Rudd in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel as Kang the Conqueror. Justin Kroll at Deadline confirmed this news that the character will be a primary antagonist in the film, with possible appearances in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, albeit with a twist, as it usually goes with the franchise’s characters.

Kang is a time-traveling entity and a frequent opponent of the Avengers team who has appeared in alternate versions of himself throughout the Marvel Comics. He has genius-level intelligence and is an expert in historical knowledge, having come from the 31st century, and is also a potential descendant of Reed Richards. This character’s appearance may tease the introduction of the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

At the end of 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott Lang (Rudd) was seen getting trapped inside the quantum realm, which he was later rescued out of by a heroic rat in last year’s Avengers: Endgame. Director Peyton Reed has been confirmed to return to the third Ant-Man film, with actor Michael Douglas coming back as Hank Pym, penned by Rick and Morty screenwriter Jeff Loveness, and a possible release date in 2022.

Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror

Last week, Majors was reportedly set to appear as protagonist Nat Love in The Harder They Fall, a Jay-Z-produced Netflix film alongside Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield, Idris Elba, Regina King, RJ Cyler, and Delroy Lindo. The actor has previously starred in 2018’s White Boy Rick with Cyler, as well as in this past summer’s Spike Lee film Da 5 Bloods with Lindo as father and son Paul and David; and he currently plays Atticus “Tic” Freeman in Misha Green’s Lovecraft Country. After his performances in this year’s projects, people have expressed interest in having him play a Green Lantern, although this may not be the case anymore, but who knows? We can still hope!

You can see Majors in Da 5 Bloods on Netflix, and in Lovecraft Country on HBO and HBO Max, airing now!
