Rapper Jay-Z and Netflix are hard at work, alongside director Jeymes Samuel, to put together an ensemble Black cast for the streaming service’s upcoming The Harder They Fall film. The film is an all-Black western following an outlaw setting out with his gang to seek revenge against his parents’ murderer. Co-written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin, The Harder They Fall has now picked up huge names in Hollywood, revealed by Netflix.

Oscar Award winner Regina King (One Night In Miami) has signed on to star along with the likes of Emmy winner Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry To Bother You) and Danielle Deadwyler. Da 5 Bloods star Delroy Lindo has also joined with Edi Gathegi (StartUp) and RJ Cyler (Power Rangers) signed on as well.

The film stars Lovecraft Country‘s Jonathan Majors as Nat Love, the outlaw,  and Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad) as Rufus Buck, the antagonist. Previously intended to film a few years back, then set to star Michael K. Williams as Nat Love with Wesley Snipes intended to portray Rufus Buck, with the supporting cast made up of Rosario Dawson, Jesse Williams, and more!

Jay-Z will produce the film, 7 years after having collaborated on the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby with Jeymes Samuel. King comes fresh off her directorial debut with One Night In Miami and HBO Watchmen‘s numerous Emmy nominations, and Delroy Lindo from Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods. Beetz found her latest feature, Joker, nominated for Best Picture in the 2020 Oscars, while Majors has received tons of praise for Lovecraft Country and an illustrious career since his breakout role in 2019’s The Last Black Man In San Fancisco.
