‘The Society’ & ‘I Am Not Okay With This’ Canceled at Netflix

It has been announced that Netflix has decided to cancel The Society and I Am Not Okay With This.

It is worth noting that both these series were already renewed by Netflix. This means that Netflix has decided to go back on their renewal orders.  Netflix has decided to do this due to the pressure created by COVID-19. What does this mean for other Netflix Originals? It is possible that The Society and I Am Not Okay With This aren’t the only originals that are canceled due to the coronavirus. Netflix has made a statement on the matter, which you can read below:

We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This. We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including: Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment for I Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the writers, casts and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.

The Society follows the story of a group of teenagers who must learn to run their own community after the rest of the population of their town disappears. The mystery begins when the students of the local high school return early from a canceled field trip and find that everyone else is gone. A dense forest appears surrounding the town; the outside world apparently no longer exists and cannot be contacted by telephone or the Internet. The teenagers must come up with their own rules to survive with limited resources.

I Am Not Okay with This is an American coming-of-age comedy-drama web television series, based on the comic book of the same name by Charles Forsman. It was released on Netflix on February 26, 2020. The series received positive reviews, with praise for the performances, particularly from Lillis and Oleff.
