The Cinema Spot has learned that ViacomCBS is planning to buy out Secret Hideout, Whizbang Films and Take 5 Productions.
This move should not be surprising to anyone as Secret Hideout has been working closely with CBS to produce their Star Trek series. Whizbang Films and Take 5 Productions are CBS’s go-to local production companies in Canada, including Star Trek: Discovery. While Whizbang Films and Take 5 Productions are separate companies, they frequently work together and share employees. ViacomCBS also already owns shares in Secret Hideout.
Secret Hideout, Inc. is a television and movie production company founded and owned by Alex Kurtzman, incorporated on 21 August 2014 and operating out of Los Angeles, California, USA.
Take 5 Productions is one of Canada’s leading producers of award-winning television drama. With a focus on episodic television, Take 5 has been involved in the production or post-production of over 500 episodes of television.
Whizbang Films Inc. is a Toronto-based film and television production company with a primary focus on production services. Studio relationships include working partnerships with NBC, CBS and MGM Television.
