Today, the official Twitter account for Netflix’s The Crown announced the casting of actress Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, TENET) as Princess Diana for the final two seasons of the Netflix series. The show has followed the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the events surrounding her and her royal family. Airing since November of 2016, the show begins its journey in 1947 with Elizabeth’s wedding to King Phillip.
The Crown‘s Twitter released a statement from Debicki:

Princess Diana was the wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, and was adored by the citizens of the United Kingdom. She is the mother of Princes Harry and William, and met her untimely fate in a motor accident in August of 1997. Debicki will be portraying Princess Diana for seasons 5 and 6 of the Netflix show, which are set to be the final two seasons of the series.
Debicki will be joining a star-studded cast, with Jonathan Pryce portraying Prince Phillip, who was previously portrayed by Tobias Menzies, and Lesley Manville as Princess Margeret, previously portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter. Queen Elizabeth will be played by Imelda Staunton in the final two seasons, succeeding Olivia Colman and Claire Foy before her.
