On Friday, it was announced that Marvel Studios would be bringing Rick and Morty writer in to rewrite the script for the upcoming third entry into the Ant Man franchise. Writer Jeff Loveness has taken over as the film’s scribe, but that hasn’t stopped leaked details of actor/writer Paul Rudd’s version of the film from making their way to the internet.
According to Thomas Polito of Geeks Worldwide, Rudd’s Ant Man 3 featured the villain M.O.D.O.K. and A.I.M. as the antagonists squaring off against Ant Man and presumably The Wasp as well. The script was also rumored to introduce the Fantastic Four, but it seems Marvel has decided to change their course and use the film as an introduction to the Young Avengers instead.
M.O.D.O.K. is an acronym, standing for Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing, and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first appearing in “Tales of Suspense #93” released in 1967. His origin is deeply rooted in A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), which has already been established as a known organization in Iron Man 3, and will appear in Black Widow this November.
There has yet to be an official release date announced for the third Ant Man film, but with the addition of a brand new writer and the recent shifting of Marvel release dates, we could be looking at a 2023 release.
