After a groundbreaking first season in 2016 as well as a succeeding Robbin’ Season in 2018, FX’s hit comedy-drama Atlanta was renewed for two new seasons. However, series creator, writer, director, and actor Donald Glover has had his hands full in both the acting and music worlds (the latter of which under the moniker Childish Gambino). In the year-and-a-half since Robbin’ Season’s finale, Glover has helped promote the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story while putting out some new songs as Gambino in 2018, and in 2019, he starred in Guava Island and The Lion King.

According to FX chairman John Landgraf during the Television Critics Association press tour, the show’s third season will grace television screens with 10 new episodes starting January 2021. The fourth season will premiere later that fall with eight episodes. Both seasons together were referred to as ”Part 1 and 2” of a new chapter in the series’ life. The last time we saw Earnest ”Earn” Marks and his rapper cousin Alfred ”Al” Miles aka Paper Boi, they boarded a plane to go off on a tour with another rapper. The two shared a conversation about making sacrifices in the professional world.

While we anticipate the new adventures of our characters, Glover himself has yet to release his final album as Childish Gambino. A few songs have been teased at his This Is America tour in late-2018.

What do you think? Are you excited for this show to return? Will you be seeing these seasons? Let us know! For more Donald Glover, FX, and Atlanta-related news and reviews follow The Cinema Spot on Twitter (@TheCinemaSpot) and Instagram (@thecinemaspot_).
