We deserve a Fantastic Four (2015) Sequel.

Look, I hate 2015’s abomination of a movie Fantastic Four as much as the next person. In fact, I hate it so much, I can’t even call it by its name. I call it Fant4stic (fant-four-stick). It’s a terrible movie in nearly every possible aspect. But I want a sequel. Hear me out.

In the days leading up to Fant4stic’s release, worry-inducing headlines flashed everywhere. It was reported that director and human trash bag Josh Trank was rude and reclusive on set, verbally abusing his actors and fellow moviemakers. What kind of person does that?! 20th Century Fox has also been known to take over on studio control (see X-Men Origins: Wolverine). It is the combination of not just bad, but atrocious directing, and too much studio control that caused Fant4stic to be such a disaster. It was a terrible disaster. It lacked in nearly all aspects, from lazy storytelling to bland characters, it was everything that could go wrong with a movie.

The CGI on The Thing was one of the only things I took as a positive from Fant4stic

But it had potential.

Fant4stic had an insane amount of potential, with a star-studded cast led by Hollywood A-listers like Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, along with great supporting actors in Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, and Toby Kebbell. The potential, yet-to-be-canceled sequel would presumably have the same great cast. With the right directing and loosened studio control, a Fantastic Four 2 could be, well, fantastic!

Did a crash test dummy have sex with the Terminator? What even is this?!

Imagine Galactus. Imagine the Silver Surfer. Imagine an X-Men team up (since they’re supposed to live in the same universe, I guess… @Fox fix that). The potential is still there! It was hard to screw up this movie, with it inevitably going to be compared to the lackluster original, and with the amazing cast. Yet… they found a way to screw up. But people still love Marvel‘s first family! And people still love superheroes! As long as that’s there, they can make a successful Fantastic Four movie. And with this cast, it would be very easy.
