Over the last decade, Five Nights at Freddy’s has dominated the video game industry. Now, it’s time for the same to happen to the big screen. Blumhouse recently took to X/ Twitter to share a release date for last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s film adaptation. The post was short, sweet, and straight to the point:

This comes as no surprise to fans of the franchise. Earlier this January, Five Nights at Freddy’s star Josh Hutcherson gave an update on the status of a possible sequel. Fans have also been speculating that there would be a trilogy as suggested by the fact that Matthew Lillard had signed a three-film contract with Blumhouse. However, the fanbase is built upon speculations and theories on what’s to come next from the games, films, and books.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s film was a massive success for Blumhouse, having grossed $297.2 million at the global box office. This is a massive profit margin for a film made with a $20 million dollar budget, and the film was released on Peacock for streaming the same day. When released on Peacock, the adaptation dominated the platform’s number-one spot for its first five nights.

The popular franchise also has a series of books and short stories. The Five Nights at Freddy’s books are also available, and many have speculated that the films will loosely follow the book trilogy, with the second film taking inspiration from Book Two, Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Twisted Ones.
