It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, It’s Superman! After months of auditions and test screenings, James Gunn has cast David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively for the upcoming Superman: Legacy film. Corenswet is best known for his roles in The Politician and Pearl. While Brosnahan has just finished starring in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after five seasons. Corenswet and Brosnahan will be the next pair of actors to take on the iconic duo after Henry Cavill and Amy Adams respectively.

Next, the casting process is moving onto looking at actors for Lex Luthor. The Hollywood Reporter previously stated that Alexander and Bill Skarsgard are both in the running for the part. At one point, Nicholas Hoult was also up for the role but it is unclear if that is still the case. However, if SAG-AFTRA, the guild that represents a vast majority of working actors, goes on strike it would put the casting process for Superman: Legacy on hold until the strike ended.

Superman: Legacy was first announced late last year following James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over as heads of DC. Gunn will be writing and directing Legacy which will also officially kick off the new DCU. Gunn is best known for writing and directing the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and The Suicide Squad. He also wrote and directed several episodes of Peacemaker. Superman: Legacy has a release date of July 11, 2025
