Scott Pilgrim is ready to take on the world once again. Edgar Wright took to Twitter today to confirm that an anime adaption of Scott Pilgrim is happening at Netflix soon. Furthermore, the entire original cast from the movie adaption is returning to voice their respective characters. Yes, that does include cast members such as Brie Larson, Chris Evans, and Kieran Culkin who have found massive success since the time of the original movie. You can see the cast list below.
Additionally, Edgar Wright will be producing along with Brian Lee O’Malley. O’Malley created and wrote the original comic source material. Furthermore, O’Malley will write the series with BenDavid Grabinski. Science SARU will be animating the series. Also, Anamaguchi who did the score for Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game will be returning to create music for the series. News of the anime series was first reported in 2022 by The Hollywood Reporter, but this is the first time it has been publicly confirmed by Netflix.
Background on Scott Pilgrim
Scott Pilgrim is a comic series created by Brian Lee O’Malley. It was first published by Oni Press in 2004 and ran until 2010. It follows the titular character who falls in love with Ramona Flowers, but to date her, he first must defeat her seven evil exes. The series would later get adapted into a movie directed by Edgar Wright. Scott Pilgrim vs the World was released in 2010, and despite bombing at the box office, has developed a cult following since then.
