It appears that Marvel has updated WandaVision‘s post credit scene!

*Spoilers for WandaVision will follow*

On June 27, Redditor ANotCoolGuy posted to the subreddit r/marvelstudios a strange observation from the Disney+ original series WandaVision. In the post, ANotCoolGuy noticed that an added shadow gliding down the mountainside in the post credit scene of WandaVision. Check out the original post below!

WandaVision detail I noticed from marvelstudios

The team at Murphy’s Multiverse went back and looked deeper into the changes, noting that the color pallete of the scene was updated. To possibly explain this, Murphy’s Multiverse’s Edward Rose (Superhero Theorist on Twitter), posited that this change may have occured to better fit in with the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Wanda Maximoff is next expected to pop up. This wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel Studios has filmed a post credit scene for it only to be used later on in a film. 2015’s Antman filmed a post credit in which Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers find a coherent but defeated Bucky Barnes trapped in an abandonded building, which was use din 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

As for the shadow moving down the mountainside, this could be Doctor Stephen Strange himself, or something, or someone far more sinister. But why update the scene months after release? Could the wacky events of Loki ultimately effect how the show ended? Maybe the timeline has been changed again?

Personally, I like Superhero Theorist’s expalanation for the color change, just extended to the shadow as well. Maybe the scene was entirely updated with the intent of fitting seamlessly into the events of Multiverse of Madness. The idea of the shadow very well could be Dr. Strange coming to see Wanda, and the layout of the scene may not have been finalized by the time the episode dropped this past March.

Still, it is interesting that the change occurred, and would mark the first time Marvel Studios has made such an alteration. In the past, Marvel has added addendums, such as the famed one-shot Long Live The King, which was packed in with the physical release of Iron Man 3. Kevin Feige had previously mentioned that the Disney+ shows would not have physical releases, could changing minor details to fit with the ramifications of Loki and Multiverse of Madness be to blame for such a disappointing announcement? Only time will tell.

What do you think of the change? Would you have ever even noticed? Let us know in the comments below! And be sure to follow The Cinema Spot on Twitter (@TheCinemaSpot) and Instagram (@thecinemaspot_) to stay up to date on the latest Marvel and Disney+ news!
