DC FanDome 2021 has been officially announced by DC today! The virtual convention is slated to return for its sophomore outting on October 16, 2021, over a year after the first FanDoome first aired.

The first DC FanDome was introduced to fans by DC as a way to share new looks, exclusive details, and more on the comic publisher’s upcoming movies, shows, and comics. It featured 8 hours worth of pre-recorded panels which streamed on a continous loop for 24 hours, giving the whole world a chance to be a part of the virtual convention.

DC FanDome offered a first look at Matt Reeves’ The Batman and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, while also formally announcing the Gotham Knights video game and offeringa  first look at Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game. Fans also got a peak at The Rock’s upcoming Black Adam, as well as new details on the Shazam! sequel, subtitled Fury of the Gods.

It was reported that DC FanDome 2020 was viewed in over 220 countries and had over 22 million views, staggering numbers considering the short time the event streamed.

There were a handful of last minute changes, including a separation of certain panels from the main event. In the end, the 8 hours of content focused primarily on the DC movies and a handful of shows in the Hall of Heroes. The event was organized in response to the ongoing  global COVID-19 pandemic that brought conventions, like SDCC, and the movie-going experience to a screeching halt.

With more time to prepare, and tons more projects that are actively in development, DC FanDome 2021 could shape up to be even bigger than the first. From a new look at The Batman to more details regarding The Flash and Ta-Nahesi Coates’ Superman film, fans could be well rewarded for a patient two years of minimal DC non-comics content.
