About five years ago, a game was released that warped the reality of gaming and truly defined what it means for a game to be interactive with every choice you make. That game was Life is Strange. This story saw our main character, Maxine “Max” Caulfield turning back the clock to navigate the chaotic life she leads. Since playing Life is Strange, I personally have had a hard time finding a game that alters perception of reality in a unique way as the game did. A fresh new story from the same developers, however, is on the horizon!

This week, Bloody Disgusting reported that Dontnod Entertainment, who has partnered with Bandai Namco Entertainment, has established pre-orders of their newest psychological thriller Twin Mirror on both PlayStation 4 (which comes with a dynamic theme inspired by the game) and Xbox One. For those that do not know of the game, here is the trailer:

In this trailer, our main character Sam is coming back to his hometown to pay his respects to Nick, who has been described as a “fellow reporter and his best friend”, giving us background on Sam and how he’s tethered to the mystery. Upon his return, we see there are many deep memories that flash back that he becomes quite literally entrenched in. Sam seems to enter his own dimension of perception where there are a plethora of clues he can pick up in regards to what happened to Nick. My biggest questions after watching: how integral is Sam to Nick’s fate and furthermore how can we dictate how the story plays out? Do we truly get to the bottom of matters, or does Sam’s mental state manufacture alternate narratives? This reporter–and gamer–might have to do a playthrough for The Cinema Spot to get these questions answered!

Are you excited for Dontnod’s new game between how the gameplay looks and what story it will tell? What do you think will happen given all that you’ve seen? Keep up with The Cinema Spot on Facebook and on Twitter & Instagram @thecinemaspot for more on Twin Mirror!

Twin Mirror will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows December 1st.
