Honestly, what took me so long? Knives Out is almost a year old and I haven’t recommended it yet. I think that this movie is one of the best movies of 2019, the decade and maybe even the century. I saw this movie with early access tickets and decided to take two of my best friends since my parents couldn’t go. I loved it so much that I took my parents a few days later as an “excuse to see it again”. Not that I actually needed an excuse. In the end, I ended up seeing it three times in the theater. Now that it’s available on Amazon Prime Video I don’t want to disclose how many times I’ve watched it at home.

In case you need a quick plot rundown: A wealthy and successful mystery writer dies on the night of his birthday party. Everyone in his family has a motive for murder. Whodunnit?? The film has a superstar cast lineup that includes Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Michael Shannon, Christopher Plummer, and Toni Collette.

This film is like a really good magician. You’re distracted by one plot twist that you nearly miss another. By the time the film is over you’re completely flabbergasted and feel like you’ve run a marathon. Knives Out absolutely delivers no matter what you ordered. Iconic one-liners? Delivered. A cinematic score to remember? Delivered. A cable-knit sweater that took over the internet? Delivered. Brilliant cinematography? Delivered.

One of my favorite things about rewatching a movie like Knives Out is catching things I missed or seeing if I could have figured out who the killer was. So if you happen to take my advice to rewatch or watch Knives Out, keep your eyes and ears peeled for some things you might have missed along the way.
