Ready Player One — That’s the tweet.

Ready Player One is one of my all-time favorite SciFi novels, and my go-to recommendation for both SciFi experts and newcomers into the genre. Fast-paced and exciting, I binged this entire book within a day shortly after it was given to me (thanks, dad!). Since the first time I read Ready Player One, I think I have purchased and loaned out this book no less than ten times (I currently don’t even own a copy) because of how often I recommend this story.

A Sci-Fi, Fantasy novel, Ready Player One is chock full of Easter Eggs, callbacks to a decade now passed, and nostalgia like you didn’t know you needed, all wrapped up in a  brilliantly imagined, not so distant future. Set in 2045, a game developer that grew up in the 1980s creates an all-immersive video game that allows you to create the life you have always wanted to live inside his creation.

I know this book came out in 2011, and it is definitely a well-known novel, but for a good reason. The novel garnered enough attention that in 2018 Warner Brothers and Steven Speilberg released their take on a film adaptation to Clyne’s brilliant world (check our review of that film here).

Enough about what I think, though. Whether you’ve already read the book, or you are reading it for the first time, let The Cinema Spot know what you think down below, or on twitter (@thecinemaspot) and Instagram (@thecinemaspot_)
