Following a successful box office run, it was only a matter of time before DC and Warner Bros. announced a start date for the sequel to the 2019 acclaimed Shazam! And now, they finally have.
Coming from Geeks Worldwide’s Thomas Polito, DC and director David Sandberg are anticipating a July 2020 start date for production on the untitled Shazam! sequel. Sandberg, who directed the first film, will return to the helm the project with Zachary Levi and Asher Angel reprising their roles as Shazam and Billy Batson.
The project is slated for release on April 1, 2022, while the spinoff Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero, will hit theaters December 22, 2021.
