During the D23 Expo, John Lasseter, the executive of Pixar, stated that the movie “starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on. It starts with the Underminer [John Ratzenberger] and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where we start this movie.”
After 13 years, it is wonderful to hear that Disney and Pixar decided to keep that story line going. It would have been depressing if they decided not to go this route. Some movies do this too. They have an awesome cliff hanger, but do not pick up on that story line.
